8 months to complete a round the world sailing race with a crew of 9 one of whom has Parkinson’s disease on a 60’ sailboat.

The Ocean Globe Race is the successor to the Whitbread, a round the world sailing race starting and ending in Southampton, with ports of call, Cape Town, Auckland and Punta del Este. 13 boats are participating representing 8 countries. Neptune, one of the French entrants is using the race to raise awareness about Parkinson’s Disease.

The second leg of the OGR round the world sailing competition covered 7250 nautical miles: CapeTown to Auckland. And the Neptune’s special mission of raising awareness about Parkinson’s Disease was also successful.

OGR is a 27,000 mike around the world race. 14 ocean going sailboats representing 8 countries. They set sail from Southampton September 10. Neptune covered the 7000 mile first leg to Cape Town in 42 days . Neptune also has a mission to raise awareness of Parkinson’s Disease - a crew member suffers from the disease.
